What will the CMAs review of UK membership pricing mean with Tom Nichols
A few weeks ago I published a post about the CMA launching an investigation in the UK into the use of membership pricing, specifically by grocers. The investigation is focussing on the rise of the loyalty card price cuts and how it has led to a drastic price increase for consumers who haven't signed up.Â
This was an extremely well received post and The Loyalty People turned this into a Poll to understand what our community thought of this development.
The results of the poll can be seen below and it's fair to say that the loyalty industry aren't that worried! But should we be?
As a result of the poll I was contacted by an old friend and colleague, Tom Nichols, Senior Manager at Baringa, a business with the goal of being the world’s most trusted consulting firm. We've recorded a short video of our thoughts on this interesting development, which may have ramifications for the loyalty industry globally, as membership pricing is prevalent in every sector.
